TURRÓN –NOUGAT
The “TURRÓN” is an essential sweetmeal linked to the Christmas season in Spain. During Christmas everybody eat turrones of different varieties, althoug the most traditional is the almond turrón. Almond is the main ingredient to elaborate the turron. Spanish homes normally have a plate full of different turrones and sweet breads cakes on a table throughout the Christmas time. There are two traditional recipes for (turrones)nougat:
a hard almond nougat - Alicante (turrón duro de almendra)
and a softer almond nougat – Jijona (turrón blando de almendra)
and a softer almond nougat – Jijona (turrón blando de almendra)
Normally people buy it at the supermarket, but if you want try this recipe at home, here it is.
Ingredients:
- 2 dessertspoon of cinnamon
- 250 gms of sugar
- 250 grams of honey
- 250 grams of toasted almonds
- 250 grams of toasted hazelnuts
- 5 egg
Preparation:
- Chop the nuts finely, get a smoth paste crushing the nuts in a mortar
- Beat the eggs stiffly, after add them to the paste
- Put the sugar and the honey in a saucepan and bring to the boil, then add the paste to the mixture.
- Mix constantly with a wooden spoon for ten minutes
- Put into wooden rectangular mould lined with rice paper
- Leave till it is cool and finally sprinkle with cinammon
AUTUMN DAY IN OUR SCHOOL
On Friday (November 25th) we celebrated autumn day in our school.
Children brought to school autunm food and in the playground we all tasted the seasonal fruit: nuts chestnuts, walnuts,grapes,pomegranates ..., also an autumn paper tree decorated with leaves and a face was made by our pupils` mums. We enjoyed a lot.

Los más pequeños del cole han disfrutado de la fiesta del otoño, nos han ayudado a prepararla profesores y profesoras de infantil y primer ciclo y algunas mamás de los niños y niñas de infantil. Cada niño ha ayudado a preparar la degustación trayendo un fruto de otoño o fruta de casa. Hemos probado frutos de otoño como las castañas, el membrillo y frutos secos¡Qué rico y qué bien nos lo hemmos pasado!.
