February Recipe of Germany

Strohbach class 3f/4f

Scherben – recipe
The following dish is typical of the carnival season, when people traditionally enjoy fatty, especially fried food before the Lenten season starts.

These little cookies look like pieces of broken glass. That’s why they are called “Scherben” (sherds).

You need:
2 eggs
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla sugar
2 tablespoons of sour cream
1 pinch of salt
250 g flour

500 g  frying fat

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and knead them. Then put the dough in the fridge for one hour.

The following pictures tell you how to prepare the “sherds”.

Guten Appetit!
